NEWS and EVENTS
Shannon Hale was at Buttonwood, Gates School in Scituate and the Hingham Middle School.
Lucky kids who stopped by Buttonwood got to talk with Shannon all about her life as a writer. But don't worry, we have autographed books in the store. Her new book Dangerous is a young adult read, but she has also written for middle readers and is a Newbery Honor Award winner.
Margaret McLean and Jon Leiberman were at the Laura Center for the Arts in Hanover for their book launch. We have signed copies by the authors in the store. Come by to pick one up while they last.
Neil Swidey was at the Hingham Public Library
and we now have autographed copies of his book - stop in before they are all gone!
This is a riveting story about the tragedy, during the building of the tunnel, at the waste treatment plant on Deer Island. Boston was trying to clean up America's filthiest harbor - which they did, but at what cost? Read about the SANDHOGS who risked their lives to make it all happen.
Elisabeth Elo was at the Nantasket Beach Resort and we now have autographed copies of her book at Buttonwood
Elo’s outstanding debut stars an intelligent, confident woman of Russian descent, Pirio Kasparov, who survives for nearly four hours in the frigid waters of the North Atlantic before being rescued. Pirio was helping lobsterman Ned Rizzo bait traps when his boat was rammed in the fog by a freighter about 25 miles northeast of Boston Harbor.
A.C. Gaughen was at Buttonwood to celebrate
the launch of her second book!
We now have signed copies of Gaughen's new book, Lady Thief,
the second book in the series after Scarlet. Posing as one of Robin Hood's thieves, Scarlet braves it all in her pursuit to help the people
of Nottingham. Scarlet is clever and daring and you will be swept into
her world as she ventures forth stopping at nothing to attain her goals.
A.C. Gaughen is a local author, and besides writing this wonderful tale
she is an inspiration to all young adult readers. She has been writing
since she was a child, has a graduate degree in creative writing and is
on her way to another graduate degree in education. She also serves
as the Director of Girls' Leadership for Boston GLOW, a non-profit working to provide opportunities for girls in the Boston area. Find out more about her and these books by visiting her blog: acgaughen.com
